If
the miseries of a fellow being brings tears into your eyes, go ahead and help
that person. But remember, a better way is to do something to change the
situation that has brought that misery. After all, you just cannot help each
and everyone, however much you may wish to.
I don't see any difference. In both cases you are eliminating the miseries of the person. Can you explain with some examples?
ReplyDeleteTake for example - the poverty in some developing countries. One of the reasons could be social ills such as alcoholism. People may be poor not because of lack of resources but because of bad habits. If you feed such people - as some governments do - you will only make them more vulnerable. Instead, if the government/individuals undertake education programs to eradicate alcoholism, people would gradually come out of poverty.
DeleteTreat the cause of the disease and not the symptoms.
