It is not the action that creates the problem

In the previous post we saw that any action creates problems irrespective of whether these actions are good or bad. At the same time, there is no way we can totally abstain from action! What is the way out?

Actually, it is not the action that creates the problem! It is the association with action that creates the problem.

We think that we are doing the action and hence the results of the actions belong to us. But in reality, it is the body that performs the actions and we are not the body!

"The three motivating forces that govern the body namely the Satwa, Rajas and tamas, force the body to perform the actions. But we (i.e. the soul) foolishly arrogate these actions on to ourselves. We falsely think – ‘I am the doer’.

We (i.e. the soul) have nothing to gain by doing any action. Nor do we lose anything by not doing any action.”

That being the case, it is foolish to associate ourselves with actions. Once we disassociate ourselves from these actions, we are freed from the effect of good or bad results.

Is this some kind of an excuse for doing whatever we like? We will see that in the next post.
