QV13.....Why should one surrender to God?

As I said in the very beginning, Islam is a path of complete surrender. But why should one surrender to God? Just because some religious scripture asks us to?

Chapter 32 of Quran, gives a long list of reasons why one should surrender to God.

Firstly, it was God who created this entire world for our sake. As a creator he is the supreme authority in this world that he has created. There is none superior to him that you can turn to, when you are in trouble. He is your only hope for all help.

“Allaahul lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda wa maa bainahumaa fee sittati ayyaam;Thummas tawaa 'alal 'arsh; maa lakum min doonihee minwwwaliyyinw-wala shafee'; afala tatazakkaroon”
“It is Allah who has created the heavens and the earth, and all between them, in six Days, and is firmly established on the Throne of authority; You have none, besides Him, to protect or intercede for you”. (Quran 32.4)

God is omniscient and omnipotent. Nothing is hidden from him. There is nothing he can’t do. But at the same time, he is full of mercy for his creation. He comes running to you even if you don’t ask him for his help, since he knows everything. All that you need to do is to surrender to him. Rest, he takes care.

“Zaalika 'aalimul ghaybi wa shahaadatil 'azeezur Raheem”
“Such is He, the Knower of all things, hidden and open, the Exalted in power, the Merciful”. (Quran 32.6)

It was God who made you almost from nothing. Not only he created you, he created you almost as a perfect being.

“Allazee ahsana kulla shai in khalaqa; wa bada a khalqal insaani min teen”
“He Who has made everything which He has created, most good: He began the creation of man with nothing more than clay”. (Quran 32.7)

It was God who gave you sight, hearing as well as the ability to think, feel and understand. It was he who filled you with his own life force. So, it is reasonable that you should be grateful to him.

“Thumma sawwaahu wa nafakha feehi mir roohihih; wa ja'ala lakumus sam'a wal-absaara wal-af'idah; taqaleelam maa tashkuroon”
“But God fashioned you in due proportion, and breathed into you something of His spirit. And He gave you the faculties of hearing and sight and feeling and understanding. Little thanks do you give!” (Quran 32.9)

God does not forsake you after creating. He continues to provide you with all that you need. He showers the rains; makes the otherwise barren earth fertile; enables the crops to grow and feed your cattle and in turn you.

In spite of doing all these, if someone does not show respect to God, such a person must really be blind who cannot see things that are just in front of him.

“Awalam yaraw annaa nasooqul maaa'a ilal lardil juruzi fanukhriju bihee zar'an taakulu minhu an'aamuhum wa anfusuhum afalaa yubsiroon”
“And do they not see that We do drive rain to parched soil bare of herbage, and produce therewith crops, providing food for their cattle and themselves? Have they not the vision?”. (Quran 32.27)

The God has not only created us, he also takes every care of us by providing us all that we need. So, surrendering to God does not just become an option, but is obligatory for the favors God has showered on us. If not, we would be deemed ungrateful.
