How do we free ourselves from desires?

Before we can think of freeing ourselves from the trap laid by the desires, we need to first understand the modus operandi of the desires.

"Desires invade us through the chain of - sense organs, mind and intellect. Once they manage to enter in, passing these three stages, they blur our wisdom, taking away our discretion over right and wrong. They push us into delusion.

So the first step is to restrain our sense organs that are the entry point. Once we succeed in that, we can gradually control the mind and the intellect and finally attain victory over desires.

This is possible, since the sense organs are subordinate to the mind, which in turn is subordinate to our intellect. But we – the master - are superior to all these and we can control them.

We need to quieten the mind using our mind (basically that is what meditation is), realize that We are the real masters, and attain victory over these desires which are otherwise extremely difficult to win.”
