Judeans adhered to some strict rules such as washing hands before one eats; taking bath after one comes back from a market place and so on.
So when some of Yeshua’s disciples did not seem to follow these rules, these traditionals took serious objection.
But
Yeshua brushed aside their objections by saying
“There is nothing outside of a man that enters into him that
can defile him; the thing that proceeds from him, that is what
defiles the man.”
What
Yeshua was suggesting was
“Because, what one eats does not enter his heart, but
his belly, and is discharged by excretion.
But the thing that proceeds from the heart is the one
that defiles the man.
For from within the heart proceed evil ideas, adultery,
fornication, theft, murder, greed, wickedness, deceit, harlotry, an
evil eye, blasphemy, boasting, senselessness.
All these evils proceed from within and defile a man.”
