Yogic Law of Exponentials

Many people have asked me – “How long does it take to experience the effectiveness of Yoga?” The simple answer is “it depends!”

For most people effectiveness means stress reduction which is one of the prominent effects of Yoga if practiced properly. Less stress means better health, better performance, peace of mind, and so on. Now, how long does it take?

You probably are aware of what an exponential decay curve is. It is a curve like the one shown in figure.

The curve indicates how something decreases over a period of time.

The Yogic law of exponentials  is that – “stress decreases exponentially with time, due to sustained practice of Yoga”. Something like that shown in the figure below.

Yogic law of exponential
If you start Yoga when you are in a high state of stress, you see quick results as compared to when you start in a relatively lesser stressful state. Not because Yoga is not useful when you are under lesser stress, but simply because the change is perceptible when you are suffering from heavy stress as shown in the figure.

So it depends on how bad your current state is๐Ÿ˜‰
