The CEO of one US company used to annually post ‘April fool’
prank on his social media site just to confound his clients. But this year he
refused to do so, since he felt that the way the social media has been used
nowadays to spread all kinds of misinformation has made him sick.
Political wars are being fought through social media. Even terrorists have found a new guerilla tactic in the form of social media. Have you ever wondered why an otherwise benign medium is taking the shape of a menace!?
If you think deeply, social media are turning humans into robots
ready to press ‘like’ or ‘share’. People are flooded with so much of
information (?) that it is becoming impossible for most people to read and
evaluate the things thrown at them. The attention span is drastically getting reduced
and the depth of grasping is becoming shallower than ever. That makes them easy
targets for any willful manipulation.
Humans are not machines and we have our own limits. And it
seems we are reaching it!
