GV4…..How to be a real Yogi while still being in the world

Let me continue with more verses from Bhagavad Gita in this episode, taking off from our previous discussion.

As usual, the verses are sung by Padmini Dinesh followed by English interpretations.

Verse 2.48

Yoga is not just meditation. Whatever ultimate you reach by following meditation can still be attained by performing your worldly duties.

Only thing is that you should do whatever you do with a balanced mind. You should not associate yourself with either success or failure of whatever you do.

If you succeed, you should not be overjoyed; nor should you grieve unduly, when you fail. You should take both success and failure equally.

Yoga is also a balanced approach to life – not just meditation.

Verse 2.47

Performing your duties is within your reach. But deciding the results of what you do is beyond. Never think that you decide the results.

You may succeed in whatever you do. Or sometimes you may fail even. As long as you have done your duty sincerely, you should not be perturbed if by chance you fail in achieving what you intended. That is because results are decided by several factors.

If you fail, don’t give up. Keep performing your duties. You should never resort to inaction, just because you failed.
