GV2…..Why we should not worry about death

Let me continue with more verses from Bhagavad Gita in this episode, taking off from our previous discussion.

As usual, the verses are sung by Padmini Dinesh followed by English interpretations.

Verse 2.25

We are not the body. It is only the body that dies. We are actually the souls that never die.

This soul is said to be imperceptible to our senses. We can’t see it; we can’t touch it.

It is not something we can completely understand by any amount of pondering.

The soul never undergoes any changes. It is only our body that undergoes various changes and finally dies. Old age, ailments, and so on are only undergone by our body and not by the soul.

When this is the fact, there is no point in worrying about death.

Verse 2.23

The soul cannot be destroyed by any weapon. Even if you set fire to it, the soul does not get burnt. If you immerse it into water, the water cannot drench the soul. No amount of wind can dehydrate the soul either.

The simple reason is that the soul is not material and it is eternal. It is deathless.
